The secret to growing a channel on social media.

If you’ve spent any time around me, you’ve probably heard me say this: “The basics to growing a channel online are—consistent quality content and collaboration.” It’s a mantra I have followed for a long time because, time and again, it proves itself true.

Step one is simple: post consistently. You’ve got to show up first. If you’re not posting, there’s nothing for a viewer to follow, nothing for you to learn from, and certainly nothing to grow. This isn’t about hitting it out of the park every time—it’s about showing up, figuring it out, and improving over time. Quality doesn’t come overnight; it comes from doing the work.

Nobody—and I mean nobody—has built a stable content career without consistency. When you commit to posting regularly, you create the foundation to grow. And as you grow, you’ll refine your quality by studying others and paying attention to what your audience loves.

That’s where a good principle comes in: the 80/20 rule. Spend 80% of your time repeating what works. If a format hits, do it again (and again). But don’t forget to leave 20% for experimentation—new iterations, new formats, new risks. That’s how you keep things fresh and stay ahead of the curve.

The second piece of the puzzle? Collaboration. Think of it as the ultimate growth hack. By teaming up with other creators, you expose yourself to audiences you’d never reach on your own. Some of the biggest creators I’ve worked with owe a huge part of their success to this. They participate in a larger creator network. They understand that collaboration is key to boosting exposure beyond their own channels.

So, where do you start? Make a plan. Step one: figure out a content format you can commit to consistently. Something you can do over and over. Once you’ve got that, show up, refine your craft, and start collaborating.

Growing a channel isn’t magic—it’s a process. Show up, learn, collaborate, and repeat. The rest will follow.
